Nissan recalling more than 236,000 cars to fix loss of steering control Nissan is recalling more than 236,000 small cars in the U.S. because the tie rods in the front suspension can bend and break, possibly causing drivers to lose steering control.The recall covers certain Sentra compact cars from the 2020 through 2022 model years. Tie rods help vehicles move the wheels for steering.Nissan says in documents posted Saturday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that if tie rods become bent, they can break and affect the steering, increasing the risk of a crash.Owners should contact dealers if their steering wheel is off center or they feel a vibration. At first, dealers will inspect and replace any bent or broken tie rods. Elderly Hayward man beaten, robbed outside his home HAYWARD, Calif. (KRON) -- An elderly man was robbed and beaten in front of his Hayward home after a trip to the bank last week. He sustained scratches on his face, a busted lip and bruises all over his body. On Aug. 14, Ralph, a 72-year-old Hayward resident, visited the Patelco Credit Union to deposit a check and withdraw $500. On his way back home, Ralph says a man hit his car at a stop light. There was no damage to his car so he continued to drive home and began to suspect that he was being followed.Ralph drove to Saint Rose Hospital in an attempt to lose the car. When he thought the coast was clear, he drove to his home off Tennyson Road. The sighting, which was the second in two days, occurred around 6:26 p.m. in a backyard on the 4000 block of Kingridge Drive. Car submerges, unconscious man rescued from water in Alameda (KRON) -- Crews rescued an unconscious man from Seaplane Lagoon early Monday morning following a report of a car that drove into the water, according to the Alameda Fire Department. Several SoCal-bound flights canceled as tropical storm Hilary impacts Bay Area airports At around 3:20 a.m., firefighters located a car in the water and deployed rescue swimmers to retrieve a man that was also in the water. The man was found unconscious and not breathing, the fire department said.
